Our story begins on the quirky dating app Hinge. We hit it off right away, feeling like we've had this connection before. After a week of hashing out the genius (or craziness) behind frosted flakes with buttermilk, we thought, why not meet up? So, on a cold, rainy Valentine's Day, about 2 years ago, we decided to meet in Optimus Hall, in Charlotte, NC. With Emily living in High Point at the time, she risked it all, with a box of homemade cupcakes in hand, and drove 1 hour and 15 minutes to meet Alex. But, thanks to COVID and face masks, our first meeting got a bit lost in the chaos of the loud food hall. We decided to bail on the noisy spot for somewhere quieter, stuffing ourselves with sushi and burgers. A few not-so-great cocktails at a pinball bowling joint later, we were on a mission for a decent cup of coffee. Found a spot that was still open, but man, the coffee was a disaster. That's when Alex offered to make a “better cup of coffee” at his place. He pulled out his grandpa's secret coffee recipe – felt like we were in an old movie. Cue the music – Ricky Martin, Carlos Vives, Hermes Croatto – and we salsa-danced until it was time for Emily to head home. Our story continues with multiple back and forward trips on the train (High Point to Charlotte and Charlotte to High Point). Every weekend we would see each other and little by little we started to notice that this was not just a friendship. ♪♪ No creía en el amor pero llegaste tú….♪♪ - Maluma

One day, in front of our favorite Italian bakery… ♪♪ Dimmi quando tu verrai...♪♪ - Tony Renis Emily turns to Alex and says: “friends don’t kiss!” Alex: “yes you’re right.” Emily: “well I’m not seeing anyone” “Are you seeing anyone?” Alex: “No”, he says smiling. Emily: “Well, do you want to be my boyfriend?” Alex: “Yes, do you want to be my girlfriend?” Emily: “Yes!”

Alex had to move back to Puerto Rico for a new job. After 8 months and more than 6 flights back and forth, Emily was accepted to PA school… in Puerto Rico!! And she was given only a 2-week notice to start classes in February! ♪♪ Y si me invitas a volar, Te juro que digo que sí….♪♪ - Tommy Torres

In March 2023, Alex secretly purchased an engagement ring, setting the stage for our spontaneous proposal that would unfold on September 10th, 2023. On the sandy shores of Aguada, PR, we experienced an unexpected synchronicity, both waking up at 5:30 am with the sunrise on our minds. Nervously, Alex set the scene by placing his phone on a tree bark in the sand, proposing to film a romantic scene. Caught up in the moment, Emily began spinning on the beach, and as she turned around, she found Alex down on one knee.
